"Who owns the street? Urban negotiations about the uses of space in the context of the 'Verkehrswende'"

The ethnographic research investigates public space and the “Verkehrswende” in Munich. It investigates the social construction of public spaces and urban uses of space. The focus is on conflicts over public space, especially in relation to parking spaces, car lanes, bike lanes, and open spaces. The project examines which specific aspects are problematized by which actors, and what concepts of norms and values these problematizations are connected to. Central is the questions of the “good life” in the city and the different futures that are designed by a multitude of actors.
